Located in the south-central region of B.C., the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) covers an area over 10,400 km2 and is renowned for its orchards, vineyards and golf courses, as well as its widely varied landscape including deserts, mountains and valleys, pristine lakes and outdoor recreational opportunities.
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is currently recruiting for a regular, full-time Accounting Clerk II - Accounts Payable to join the Financial Services team.
The position provides financial support services to the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizes, verifies and processes approved accounts payable documents for payment.
- Reviews invoices and employee expense claims for compliance with RDOS policies and notifies Deputy Chief Financial Officer of any non-compliance.
- Reviews and processes vendor payments by cheque, electronic file transfer, pre-authorized payments and the on-line banking system.
- Summarizes, verifies and records corporate purchasing card transactions.
- Analyzes and reconciles vendor accounts.
- Identifies and interprets current legislation as it pertains to invoices and applies such requirements when processing payments.
- Organizes, reconciles and prepares the annual T4A submission to the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Monitors and ensures integrity of department expenditure coding throughout the organization.
- Monitors compliance of authorized budget signing authorities throughout the organization.
- Maintains vendor information in the accounting software.
- Organizes financial data for weekly cheque processing.
- Provides internal and external customer service and responds to enquiries.
- Serves on or supports the emergency response team as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
- A minimum of two (2) years post-secondary education in a recognized accounting program.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related position working with accounting programs.
- Experience working with the public and providing customer service.
- Proficient understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to enter a large volume of data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with private and sensitive customer information.
- Ability to work on a number of concurrent tasks with deadline pressures.
- Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Vadim accounting software is considered an asset.
- Ability to pass and maintain a criminal record check.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence.
This regular, full-time position is included in the BCGEU bargaining unit. The hourly wage for the position is $43.56 per hour (January-June) and then will increase to $43.78 per hour (July-December). In addition, the RDOS offers an attractive benefits package, pension and flexible schedule. This position is also eligible to participate in the flexible work schedule.
